Welcome to AofE, Darkshines . (If it's okay I'm going with the easy-to-type version) 'Extreme' challenges are by no means mandatory - except for JulNoWriMo and the official OLL events (NaNoWriMo and Camp NaNo), the rest of the year is more relaxed. You can usually choose your own wordcount and you can either take part in a WriMo or just hang around here and chat to people. If you have any questions, just ask. I should know the answer, but if I don't I'm sure someone else around here will cover for me . Siana. (who will probably never figure out what should be in an official welcome message and just accidentally invented the word 'mantadory')

Hey Breeze and SianaBlackwood! Easy to type version is fine- it took long enough for me to get used to logging in. I'm excited to join the world of crazy people and especially take on some challenges, even if they're easy. Someday I'll write more than a thousand words in a month and it'll be magical. XD

NaNoWriMo. Dive into NaNo this November and I can pretty much guarantee you'll come out with at least a thousand words . There are a lot of 'spinoff' events throughout the rest of the year, but only NaNo gives you the experience of writing at breakneck speed alongside many thousands of other writers. I think it was somewhere over 100k last year, but the site helpfully disappeared when I tried to check the numbers. (Not their fault. My internet could kindly be described as 'patchy'.) There was probably a point to this other than 'do NaNo' and 'my internet sucks'. Maybe there wasn't - I'll just go with 'do NaNo'.

...and just accidentally invented the word 'mantadory') It must be here noted that all ]mantadory[ challenges will be mandated by Perry the Perambulating Praying Mantis of Premeditated Productivity. Please him or perish.
