Hi, Wolfyone! Great to see another member here! You've joined us at a great time, too - we're all gearing up for our NaNoWriMo campaigns and then our own end-of-year event, the Ink-Slinger's Ball. Then there's all the big dreams we've got for what we can add to the site in 2012... How is Rampage, anyway? She hasn't been back here in ages .

Welcome, Wolfyone~ You're Wrampage's mum? That's awesome ^^ It's always amazing when you realise you're the kind of crazy only creative people understand, especially if you have people around who don't feel the need to place you in a straitjacket. It's happened to me so many times. 'I didn't know he felt this way...' 'Who?' 'Jack.' 'Isn't Jack your character? How can you not know what he thinks?' I've found it's easier to avoid the whole thing if I can... But welcome, again. Glad to see you here ^^

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. It's nice to be among other writers. It is impossible to explain ourselves to those who don't write. I have my daughter to thank for giving me a kick in the butt to start doing this. It was something I always wanted to do, just didn't really know how to go about actually doing now. Now that I have been at it for several months I realize it was always there, I just needed to let go and let it flow. She is doing well, working on Gothno and taking a creative writing class in college. So she is dividing her attention between assigned writing and the story she has chosen to write. We're both deep in the writing thing these days, enjoying Gothno and preparing for NaNoWrimo. So Siana, tell me about the Ink Slinger's Ball. It sounds like fun!

I'm glad you're both doing so well And since no one jumped in with an explanation yet: The Ink-Slinger's Ball is something we dreamed up. It's an annual online event (likely being just after NaNo is over this year) where Ink-Slingers from all over the world gather to celebrate what they've accomplished over the year, both in writing and in their own personal lives. We're still working things out in the staff room but we'll be ready to party when the time comes ^^

Sounds like it will be a lot of fun! Either that or total insanity! I can just see it now, a room full of crazy writer's sitting at tables, drinks ready, music playing, all muttering to themselves and scribbling furiously on napkins and tablecloths, as new plot bunnies take over what should have been a night of celebration.

Hello! My name is Rachel, and I'm new to WriMos... I just failed at my first NaNoWriMo attempt, so I'm looking for some support as I try to finish it off in NaNoFiMo. I'm 15 and I've loved to read since forever and have newly discovered a love of writing. I'm also a nerdfighter, in case there's any other made-of-awesomes hanging around here.

Hello nerdwrighter! (or do you prefer Rachel?)
You're just in time for our NaNoWriMo 'after party', the Ink-Slingers' Ball. Plus, we have the Writing Room for everyone who needs to finish something before December 31st. It's kind of an add-on to NaNoFiMo (only with shock collars).
No, we don't really have shock collars. It's all encouragement and excitement in the Writing Room.
So what is this 'nerdfighter' business, anyway?
*lives under a rock*

Simply put, Nerdfighters are basically people that instead of being made of bones and tissue and all that stuff are made entirely of awesome. We get together and do awesome stuff and fight against worldsuck.
I'm a Nerdfighter too and proud of it~ So welcome to you (and DFTBA).

<Happy dances> Yay! I'm so excited to find another Nerdfighter! DFTBA! @ Siana: Either is fine. Rachel is my real name, but Nerdwrighter (which is my 'clever' twist on Nerdfighter) is my username many places on the internet. Jezzy pretty much covered it, but if you'd like to find out more/ get involved, the community is based around Youtube. Here's a link to a video to get you started: www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyQi79aYfxU

...and somehow that turned into quite a long youtube session in which I discovered among other things that the Nerdfighters are petitioning evolution to produce much smaller elephants and that nerd girls are one of the world's great untapped romantic resources... The internet is a strange place .

Lol. Welcome to Nerfighteria, Siana.
So can anyone tell me how to get one of those cool little wordcount bars that some of you have in your signatures?

Hey Nerdwrighter, Welcome to the forum! And by the way, failing at NaNo is more success than the average person ever has. Because most of them don't even try. Besides, if you came away with even part of a story and a little more knowledge about who you are as a writer then it's not a fail at all.
