Just found this via Twitter: www.kernelmag.com/scene/3669/the-30-hour-novel/The rules are as follows: * Write a novel (or, as is more likely, novella… but push yourselves) between Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 January. * Start from scratch. None of your own previously written prose can be included in your NaNoWriWee draft * Write a novel (or novella). We define a novel as a lengthy work of fiction. * Be the sole author * Write more than one word repeated 50,000 times Sign-ups for the official version are on the link above, but if you'd like to do it 'unofficially' post here and we can set up an AofE challenge for that weekend.

Unofficial all the way on this one. I love this idea... because I am insane.
(Of course, now I have to decide what to work on. *throws dart at idea board*)

Okay, I'm going to add/change a couple of rules:
1) The lowest goal you can set is 10k. No upper limits. 2) You have to start a new idea from scratch. No rewriting or continuation of existing stories.
Questions about this: Should we set the minimum goal higher? Should we allow rewriting/continuing?
We could have two options - a pure NaNoWriWee for the people who want to have a go at a whole novella/novel in a weekend and a normal 'wrikend' for anyone who wants to break some or all of the rules.

Questions about this: Should we set the minimum goal higher? Should we allow rewriting/continuing? Personally I think the minimum goal should be 20k. More of a challenge if people were to choose that, but that's just my opinion.

Yeah, but self-preservation compels me to admit that I wouldn't have a hope in hell of getting to 20k.

I could do 20k, I think. Of course, I'm strange like that. If we do set the goal higher, maybe 15k would be a good balance? It's a challenge, sure, but it's not completely impossibly under most circumstances.
Personally, I'd rather stick to the rules on the rewriting/continuing front. That was kind of the whole spirit of the thing. (Besides, working on something else for a while might loosen up the writing muscles, so to speak. Usually, if I switch projects for a while and then go back to the one I was working on, it's easier for me to focus on it.)

Yeah, I like 15k. Still impossible, but only just. I can't remember the last time I reached 7.5k in a day.
Now on with a much more serious problem - finding an idea.
