The title of this thread says it all. Are you ready for the madness that is NaNoWriMo to begin? I know I'm not, but I'm doing it anyway. This will be my seventh NaNo. My first one was in 2006, which I lost, by the way. Since then, I've only lost one other and that was in 2008. I've won every NaNo since then. I'm rather pleased with my record. Share your NaNoWriMo story. When did you do your first one? Did you win? How many NaNos have you done? What's your win-loss record like? We won't laugh or tell you that you should have done better or anything like that. Those here on AoE and the ones on PlotMo are a support group for those addicted to NaNoWriMos in what ever form they appear in. I'll be posting this same message over on PlotMo, so don't be surprised seeing it twice.

In spite of the fact that I'm a NaNo Rebel this year and continuing a rewrite, the answer to that question would be that no, I'm not ready for NaNo. My story is full of massive plot holes and the characters feel like they're made of cardboard.
The story is the second draft of my first NaNoWriMo novel, The Frozen Tear. That was in 2010 and I wrote 75k and finished the story, which was so awesome that I became an instant WriMo addict and spent the whole of 2011 roaming the internet doing monthly writing challenges with varying degrees of success.
Random aside: I've lost AugNoWriMo twice from two attempts. I've also never won a single session of Camp NaNo.
In 2011 my second NaNo was Shelter - sort of horror/paranormal and drawing heavily on Beauty and the Beast. That was also 75k and a win, but it's probably the most incomprehensible draft I've ever written. I truly love the way the final confrontation played out, though, so one day I'm going to come back to this story and make it awesome.
Anyway... not ready. Panicking about how and why my characters made certain transport decisions. Worrying about being able to write that much every day (I'm going for 75k again, so 2.5k per day). A little sad that I'll probably have to take a break from the planning I'm doing on other projects.
Panic. Lots of panic.

For 5 months (April to August), I had a NaNo winning streak. This'll be my first official NaNoWriMo. I'm 98 percent ready. 98 percent freeform, welcome to the craziness that is NaNoWriMo. Feel free to add me as a buddy over on NaNo. I have the same username over there as I do here. If you'd like me and/or some of the others, be sure and let us know what your NaNo username is, so we can add you to our buddy lists. By the way, that goes for everyone. Feel free to add me as a buddy, and I'd love to do the same ... add you as a buddy, I mean. Edit: Hmmm I see my username doesn't show up unless you over over it with your mouse, so to make things a bit simpler for everyone, my NaNo username is AmyPReed.

NaNo username: thrilleraddict oh and thanks Amy! Edit: And I got bit by a plot bunny last night I think I'll have a lot more fun doing, which means I may not be participating in the WIP-From-Hell challenge since most of December will be spent on my POTM draft.

Cool, freeform, I'll be adding you to my Buddy list as well. Makes it easier to kick each other in the pants if we can see how the word count progress is going. LOL
Edit: Okay, I have you added to my buddy list. I'm going to have to do a little digging to find other member's NaNo user names. LOL
