... It's not much longer until it starts. I think I know what I'm going to be writing in November, but I'm a little afraid to mention it anywhere because all my plans seem to fall apart within minutes of being typed up. Anyway, I'm planning on doing NaNo, but this year I'll probably just go for the official goal rather than trying to write the whole draft in one month. After all, the WIP-from-hell challenge goes until December 31st. So, is everyone else doing NaNo? Do you have an idea in mind yet? Do you have survival kits, pre-NaNo rituals, special NaNo snacks or anything else like that? This is a general NaNo 2012 discussion thread, so let's talk .

Oh, me! I am! I know what you mean about plans falling apart after they're typed up. My SeptNo plans are a heap of rubble right now >.> But this one is different. Because I actually have structure with this one. Like, I think I figured it out. And that's so weird. Of course now I want to write so I'm keeping myself busy with character stuff but yeah, optimistic.

This'll be my first November NaNo. I was thinking of doing the novel I planned on for the WIP-From-Hell challenge, but I may not, it just depends on what I feel like a week before November begins.
Not that I'm trying to lose weight or anything, but my favorite NaNoWriMo snack is (Kelloggs) Special K blueberry bars. XD

I guess it must be time to start preparations for NaNo around here, mustn't it? I had this idea the other day of "Challenge of the day", where each day there's a wordcount challenge or an X words in 15 minutes challenge or... well, I don't know what other challenges we could have, but the general idea is to have a challenge every day for the duration of NaNoWriMo. Just for example...
Day 1: Double wordcount day Day 2: Most words in 15 minutes Day 3: Use Write or Die until you reach your daily goal Day 4: ....
Yeah, I ran out already.
Anyway, this could either be an agreed list of 30 challenges or it could be a list of any length and we get to pick whatever challenge we want to do on a given day.

Actually, Day 1 probably should be Midnight Madness (start on the stroke of midnight) . Anyone got any ideas for more challenges?

I agree that there should midnight madness on day one in October. I am thinking we can have weekend madness challenges as well on here.

The new NaNoWriMo site is up!!!!! The forum is empty!!!!! There's different stuff!!!!!
On an almost-totally-unrelated subject, I found a nice countdown timer script. NaNoWriMo begins in 29 days, 9 hours, 49 minutes and 40 seconds.
I'm pretty sure it works off the computer's system clock, so it should be telling everyone the right time.

Some days I'm itching to begin NaNo, others I'm like "puh I need to do more research".
In my defense, the protagionist is a Muslim (well, so are some of the antagonists), so I don't want to screw up major details and have a bad time durimg the editing stage.

I can't remember exactly, but it's okay - I'll copy it out of the headers here and PM it to you over on PlotMo.
