After reading Jedisagefish's request for a critique, It occurred to me that a friendly little critique circle might actually fit into a corner table of our cafe. Not just for writing, though - if one of us wants an opinion of a blog layout or a book cover or a desktop background or even opinions on makeup and clothing, that would be the place to go.
'Admin' doesn't mean I'm the almighty goddess of all things related to this forum, though, so I'd like to get your thoughts and feelings on the idea of a friendly critique table.
Would the section be used? Is the cafe the best place for it? If we had this section, how would we deal with things that don't meet the Proboards rating restriction? What kinds of things would members be likely to put on the table for comment? Is this 'table' metaphor appropriate? Has Siana completely overlooked something vitally important?
...and so on.

If we had this section, how would we deal with things that don't meet the Proboards rating restriction? Perhaps we could post a thread that tells how long the bit we want critiqued is and also what makes it unacceptable to post (excessive violence, sexual content, etc.). Then those who are interested in critiquing can PM or email us. I'm not entirely sure that would work out well, but it's a thought. Also, I have no ideas about the rest of your questions.

I believe one of the most important things when it comes to writing, or creating anything for that matter, is reviewing what you have done. The best way to do this usually seems to be through a discussion, which forums are great for. I say YES to the critique boards!

I'm not entirely sure that would work out well, but it's a thought. I just reread my post and worried this might be misinterpreted. To be 100% clear, I meant that my idea about how to handle pieces that don't meet the ratings restriction might not work out well. I think your idea of having a critique section is a very good one.

I don't like the idea - in my mind the number of boards should reflect the number of members. Otherwise we're just going to end up with these almost -empty boards everywhere. I think we should keep using the cafe and just have [CRITQUE] out the front of the title.

Or, now that you mention it, we could use the "Ink-Slinger's Guide to Planning, Writing and Editing"...

If, due to the quantity of boards this forum currently has, the critique board should come to fall, I would very much press the matter of replacing one of the currently existing boards for it, or at the very least letting it be a grand part of it.

Aside from the fact that I finally got the header, buttons and news fader in the same alignment, I'm not exactly madly in love with anything about this layout. If you guys have brilliant suggestions about what the place should be like, please share them. Actually, share your ideas even if they're vague and you don't think they're all that good. Please .

I use simply insane for my forum layouts - the latest one is on MarNo. Don't know if that helps...
